The best gifts for female gamers are the same as the best gifts for any gamer: chosen for what she plays and how her setup looks. Some women who game love pink and pastel. Many don't, and a pink version of everything is a common complaint. So start with her, not with a colour, and the gift will land.
Three questions before you buy
- What does she play? Cosy farming games, competitive shooters, fantasy RPGs, horror, racing. Each suggests a different design.
- Where does she play? At a desk, on a sofa, on a handheld in bed.
- What colour is her setup? Look at the lighting, the peripherals and the walls. Match what is already there.
For her desk: a desk mat
If she plays at a desk, a desk mat is one of the most useful gifts you can give. It covers the space under the keyboard and the mouse, gives smooth tracking, and sets the look of the whole setup.
Other directions, depending on her taste:
- Dark and moody: the Deep Space Black Hole desk mat.
- Fantasy: the Enchanted Forest mouse pad or the baby dragon mouse pad.
- Neon city: the Japanese City Punk FX.3 desk mat.
- Cosy: the Coffee Love mouse pad.
Ours have a polyester top and a natural rubber base, in three sizes up to 31.5 x 15.5 inches. See which size to choose.
For her walls
Art on the wall behind her screen, or above her bed, makes a gaming space feel like a room rather than a corner. Think about the games she loves:
- Cosy games: warm, soft pieces. The Coffee Love framed poster.
- Fantasy RPGs: the Great Fairy Tree framed poster or the Magic Book Love Spell framed poster.
- Sci-fi and space: the Light Nebula framed poster.
- Horror: the Blue Flame Skull framed poster.
A tapestry is a cheap way to cover a whole wall, and works as a backdrop if she streams. See gaming room tapestry ideas.
Small gifts
- A keychain, about $15, for her keys, a bag or a handheld case. Try the cute ghost, Frost Owl or Coffee Love keychain.
- A pin, about $6 to $7, for a jacket, a backpack or a pin board.
- A scarf, about $30, if she likes to wear her colours.
